Virtual Cassowary Adoption

Virtually Adopting a Cassowary makes you an MVD – Most Valuable Donor!

MVD’s make a large scale impact for our organization and for Cassowary Conservation and Education.

Following your Adoption Donation you will be mailed a Virtual Adoption Certificate and a framed picture of your adopted bird, as well as recognition of yourself, your family, or your business, on our website and across all our social media platforms! Of course you also have the option to remain anonymous.

Virtual Adoptions are valid for a duration of ONE YEAR, during which time, this cassowary will NOT be available for adoption or sponsorship.

Every 3 months, you will receive a new picture of your adopted bird with a story of the events of their life over the last 3 months, plus you’ll be receiving cool items like coffee mugs, tote bags, t-shirts, hoodies, and more, all featuring your adopted cassowary’s picture!

MVD’s are also entitled to three in person visits to the organization during their adoption period!

That’s right, you get to meet your cassowary in person! You’ll get a full facility tour, meet all the cassowaries and other animals, and see the progress that has been made due to your generosity!

Cassowary Sponsorships

When you Sponsor your favorite cassowary, you’ll make a recurring donation and starting at 3 months, and in 3 month intervals, you’ll start receiving cool items, all printed with your sponsored cassowary!

Liberace

We house a total of 3 Northern Cassowaries at the Cassowary Conservancy, TO OUR KNOWLEDGE, LIBERACE IS THE ONLY ONE OF HIS KIND IN NORTH AMERICA!

Liberace 1

Though he may look like the other blue and red cassowaries to you, Liberace is a Northern or Single Wattle Cassowary.

Liberace is called a Blue or Red Northern Cassowary because his colors differ from that of the Traditional Yellow Northern Cassowary.

The casque that tops his head also differs from that of both the Southern and Northern cassowaries, it’s a little taller and not as flat as the Yellow Northerns but not as tall and rounded as the Southerns.

LIBERACE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AGAIN JULY 2024

It is easy to tell that Artemis and Piggy are very different from their Southern cousins!

Their bright yellow neck draws your attention and the difference in their cheeks and casque are blatantly obvious.

Artemis & Piggy are Northern Cassowary, two of only three known in existence in the USA.

Of those, 2 are yellow: Artemis & Piggy, and Liberace the Red, above.

Ginger

Always a crowd favorite, Ginger knows how to delight!

From her Pretty Girl Walk to her deep and resonant booms, Ginger knows how to make a showing!

Though casual in her demeanor, Ginger is territorial and will let you know if you crossed a line.

Ginger 1

Godiva

Godiva 3

Too much time stuck in her egg prior to hatching gave this girl a wonky appearance but she is healthy and happy!

Godiva is paired with Myron and was definitely the most  relaxed cassowary until Myron came along and took the title.

Godiva’s appearance shows the signs of her journey out of her egg and her “wonki-ness” means she holds a special place in our hearts!

Lucky

By far, Lucky is the most aggressive cassowary at our facility.

She is extremely territorial and will not hesitate to hit a fence to let you know you’ve crossed the line into her territory.

Even still, this attitude makes Lucky a crowd favorite and we don’t hold her instincts against her!

Lucky 2

Malachite

Malachite 2

Son of Pugsley, older brother to Myron, but this boy is not shy! Being paired with Lucky has definitely rubbed off on Malachite!

Wary of strangers, alert, and ready to defend if necessary, he is much more easily agitated than his shy brother and father.

Myron

Son of Pugsley, brother to Malachite, Myron has adopted Godiva’s relaxed demeanor and is shy like his dad.

He is the youngest cassowary here at only 5 years old.
